Up and Away

Come fly away with us

A few days after the wedding of Tim & Karla we had the ride of a lifetime in a helicopter out of Penticton with HNZ Topflight. Our captain was a wonderful gal, Heather who has many years experience and tremendous charisma and a great tour guide.  We had one request, to fly over St. Andrews golf course and also to view where Christie and Mike live. Heather had the rest of the trip planned. We had an amazing 50 minutes of flying time. We did not observe anything out of the ordinary, no forest fires, and to my disappointment no wildlife! This helicopter ride has been a dream of Ed's for many years, and it finally came true. So, Ed got to sit in the co-pilots seat up front! The doors were closed, so took photos out the window, no problem. A smooth ride it was, with perfect weather and blue skies. Come along and enjoy the ride with me in photos over land, Lake Okanagan, Lake Skaha and beyond. I found myself thinking of our Canadian Astronaut: Chris Hadfield during his time in the International Space Station.

"Is somebody Singing" Lyrics by Chris Hadfield and Ed Robertson.
I heard this song recently and it had a huge impact on myself...
"Bridge"
All black and white just fades to grey
Where the sun rises sixteen times a day
You can't make out borders from up here
Just a spinning ball within a tiny atmosphere...

On our way home on the Tuesday, on the connector #5 we came upon this
forest fire near the Brenda Mine. Found a safe pullout. There was an
airplane circling above the smoke. This did look fairly new. Several cars
had pulled over to check this out. Where there's smoke there is fire!
